Wenham Magna or Wenham Combusta

The Robert de Vallibus, or Vaux, mentioned by Mr. Kirby, gave all the churches and tithes of his demesne, to the Priory of the Virgin Mary and St. Andrew, in Thetford; amongst which, Wenham was included.

At the suppression of the monasteries, the Prior of Leighs, in Essex, held lands in Great Wenham, of the annual rent of £7 5s.

In the 9th of King Edward I., the lordship of this parish was held by Petronell de Holbrooke; also the manor of Wenham Parva.
